Blog Entry 2: Rules of Netiquette

In this lesson, it taught me that the internet is a powerful tool, in every, react button, comment and share you can share happiness or maybe hurt somebody's feelings. However, we should think before we click, in other word spite of our freedom to speak we should still consider others and if we talk with sense. The Internet is also a dangerous place because anyone can know your information especially when you're putting a lot of information in your account. We should careful when sharing information and avoid posting a status where you are. Do not share your password with anyone especially with your boyfriends and girlfriends, it is still your privacy to have. But the biggest advantages of the internet we easily access with everyone, staying in touch with old friends, gain new friends, promoting and finding someone. Apart from that, we should add friends that we only know in real life and do not talk to strangers whether online or face-to-face.

The most important thing that I learned is the internet treats which are the Malware, the most common threat on the internet. Malicious software or also known malware has 5 kinds: Virus, Worm, Trojan, spyware, and Adware. First, Virus is a kind of malicious program designed to replicate itself and transfer from one computer to another either through the internet and local networks or data storage like flash drives. Second, Worm is a malicious program that transfers from one computer to another by any type of means. Third, Trojan a malicious program that is disguised as a useful program but once downloaded or installed, leaves your PC unprotected and allows hackers to get your information. Fourth, Spyware a program that runs in the background without you knowing it (thus called “spy”). It has the ability to monitor what you are doing and typing through keylogging. Keyloggers used to record the keystroke done by the users, this is done to steal their password or any other sensitive information. Lastly,  Adware a program designed to send you advertisements, mostly as pop-ups. Also, Spam and Phishing are one of the treats that we encounter on the internet. Spam is an unwanted email mostly from bots or advertisers. While Phishing acquires sensitive personal information like passwords and credit card details.

Copyright Infringement is one of the violations of an individual or organization's copyright commit. It is about using commercial software without paying for it is a copyright infringement and as commonly known as piracy. To avoid copyright infringement we should be responsible, creative understanding and know the law. Conducting online research is not as easy as a pie but the internet is there to makes everything easy and there are some tips in conducting online research. First, have a question in mind and then narrow it down. After that do an advanced search and look for credible source then give credits to the original author of the page or information.
